CHUM Reform, Begin Writing New Material
July 15, 2004Former Century Media recording artists CHUM have reformed and are currently writing new material. "We plan on focusing on writing new songs and at some point this year we will begin recording a new record," CHUM guitarist/vocalist John Lancaster told BLABBERMOUTH.NET. "We have already recorded a song [called 'Embracing the Eyesore', download mp3] for a Daredevil Records compilation coming out in the fall. At that time there wasn't a drummer in the picture so we used drum loops. After finishing that we then talked with [former drummer] Chuck Nicholas about the possibility of us doing another CHUM record. We all agreed on the idea, and here we are. Performance-wise, due to our lives/schedules they will probably be few and far between. As it stands so far, we are playing the X-Fest in Huntington, WV this year (Oct. 2) with MONSTER MAGNET and other bands to be announced."
A largely unknown entity, CHUM garnered a fair amount of attention when they were active and released one classic album, entitled "Dead to the World" (1996),before being unceremoniously dropped by the aforementioned label.
